Although the character of Xander Cage was supposedly killed from the sequel to explain his absence, Vin Diesel declared in 2006 that he could well be returning as Xander Cage in a sequel, entitled xXx: The Return of Xander Cage,[thirteen] Using the character's death getting retconned for that movie.
